The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara North is teaming up with Rotary Clubs in Ansbach, German and Nairobi, Kenya and the NGO, Global Water to bring water to a Kenyan village.
Global Water is an international, non-profit humanitarian organization focused on creating safe water supplies, sanitation facilities and related health programs for rural villagers in developing countries. We believe the lack of safe drinking and agricultural water and lack of access to sanitation facilities are the root causes of disease, hunger and poverty throughout the world today.
International Services Chair Jim Lisi announced the project to raise a total of $20,000 to bring a safe drinking water system to a Kenyan community. The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara North Charitable Foundation has approved a grant of $2,500 to the project to be matched by donations averaging $75.00 each from individual club members. Once this money is in hand it will be used to apply for a matching $5,000 from Rotary District 5240 and a final $10,000 match from the Rotary International Foundation.
Club members wishing to donate may send their check payable to RCSBNCF with “Water Project” on the memo line to:
